    Poker Stars Review:

    Pros

    • Still open to U.S. memberships
    • Numerous regular tournaments
    • Extensive selection of ring games

    Cons

    • Fairly unimpressive bonuses
    • Competition isn’t that tight

    Games and software

PokerStars is distinguished from other poker rooms by the ring games selection, which is quite unique in its variation. Among the games offered are Texas Holdem, Omaha, 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Draw, HORSE, Razz, and numerous other variations. The range of allowable stakes are also impressive, beginning from as little as $0.01/$0.02 to a very respectable $200/$400.

The beauty of the PokerStars software is that it is ideally suited to players from the beginner to the advanced level. With an easy to navigate lobby that has all the important features in easy reach, most players should have no trouble finding their way around the site.

    Bonuses

While the bonuses offered at PokerStars are not as huge as those in other poker rooms, they are fairly adequate, and they have the benefit of clearing pretty quickly. The largest bonus currently offered is the 100% match up bonus of up to $50, with the amount being given out in $10 increments. PokerStars doers offer some reload bonuses occasionally, and these are mostly given out during special events. All new players are also automatically included in site’s rewards program.

    Free Rolls and Tournaments

An impressive array of tournaments rounds up the PokerStars lineup, and this is definitely one of the site’s main attractions. With tournament buyins starting at a very reasonable $1, even new players will be able to get in on the action. In addition, offers satellites to the $1000 weekly freeroll are given out several times a day.

    VIP - Loyalty Clubs

Poker Stars offers its loyal members a VIP program with a $100,000 freeroll every month. This is again one of the best freeroll offers we have encountered in the online poker world, and there are a few other freeroll offers provided by the site besides.

    Customer Support and safety

PokerStars offers customer support via email 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Unfortunately phone and live chat support is not offered, although we have to say that the email support service is quite quick with their response. All our concerns were handled in a timely manner, and we were pleased with the professionalism displayed by the staff.

    Conclusion

PokerStars stands out from the competition with its extensive lineup of scheduled tournaments and sit-and-gos. With the fast and reliable software and the stellar graphics behind it, the games are truly a joy to behold. And with so many players logging on to give you a bit of a challenge, there is no way that you will ever get bored at PokerStars.

Pokerstars is a losing proposition. I know it is easy to dismiss a player who complains that he or she is consistently losing because of bad luck/ idiot players, etc. I'm hear to tell you that you stand a better chance with Pokerstars if you bet against the odds than with them. I have consitantly gotten my money in good on this site only to have pocket As busted by 7/5 of hearts (they weren't slow played). In back to back tourney's I was knocked out with pocket Qs (only once was it even a coin flip against A/K -which I lost). These are just a few examples. It is remarkable and strange the continued and ubiquitous bad luck that I have experienced. I fancy myself a good player who tries to do everything well; i'm cautious for the most part, agressive when I need to be, I play position poker, I try to spot trends in betting with other players. In short, I try to do the little things right as a student of the game where, for the most part, the average players is simply bouncing off walls. I know that you are going to get some cooler situations on occasion and you will get rivered as well. I just want anyone who is doing research on where to play poker online that its my experience the Pokerstars is not the place for conscientious players who want to play poker in a straight up environment and give themselves a chance to do well and improve their game. I'm really not the kind of person who would take the time to write something like this, but my frustration level is through the roof and I would spare anyone else who would listen this frustration. Just know that with Pokerstars you will get screwed.

I have had a complete NIGHTMARE 30 hrs - having opened a new Pokerstars.com acct and transferred $600 to my acct, I have yet been unable to play due to anti-fraud investigations by the pokerstars.com team. And in addition, I have asked them 3 times so far to just forget about the acct, and just repay my money but they have failed to do this either.... I am at my witends and dsespite your reassurance that their email support is quick and professional, I DISAGREE... I am disgusted and appalled at how slow they have been and I am seriously concerned about ever seeing MY money again. Please - if anyone has advice on how to get my money back from these vultures I would be very grateful. Please HELP???
